Ok so this isn’t going to be a long post but I wanted to share. Some people naturally enjoy their cardio sessions. There is nothing wrong with that! But for some of us 30-45 minutes of a treadmill, elliptical, or stair climber is pure torture.
Now I have always been one to enjoy listening to music and zoning out while working out. However someone one day advised me to try watching a movie or a show instead. I was skeptical at first. After all, watching the TVs at the gym never helped distract me so why would watching a show on my phone be any different? So I tried it one day. I picked a show that really interested me that I never had seen before and started watching it from my phone through Netflix. And wow did the time fly! Not only that but I ONLY allowed myself to watch that show while doing cardio. So it became that I would look forward to my cardio sessions so I could catch up on the next episode. Looking forward to cardio? Crazy right??
The trick is to find something you really think will be interesting and distracting for you personally. I have tried a few shows that just didn’t really distract me enough and I became too annoyed and had to pick another show. You don’t want anything too slow, too sexy, or too emotional. Something light, funny, or riveting is good.
I promise this is a game changer for getting in that boring but necessary cardio. Especially during contest prep when cardio is prescribed so often and long.
