Too often we get caught up in the daily grind. Losing a few more pounds, losing a little more fat, hitting a new PR, whatever it may be.
I know me personally, I am always trying to get to the next level of something. I really think every so often we all need to take a step back and appreciate how far we have come. Especially on days when you didn’t hit the PR when you were hoping to. Or you didn’t lose any weight since the last time stepping on the scale. There are days (especially squats with me) where I want a PR so bad and if I don’t get there it will put me in a bad mood for hours. I feel so defeated and frustrated. This is because for me squatting is extremely challenging and has never came easy. Then I have to think back and tell myself “when you started you couldn’t even air squat without holding your trainer’s hand. You have come a really long way. ” And then I feel better. Sometimes that’s what it takes- appreciating how far you have come.
This goes for anything in life, really. Even your career or another hobby you have. We all have growth in one way or another and it is easy to get caught up in the daily struggle. So don’t forget to take a step back next time you feel defeated and think back or even look back at old pictures. Remember how far you have come and compare it to where you are now. And be proud! 😁
