Staving off hunger cues

I hesitated on posting this only because I am not a nutritionist and I do not always make the “healthiest” choice and I realize this. Then I decided maybe someone can benefit so let’s go with it 🙂.

There are moments when although it isn’t time for me to eat my next meal, I am inevitably starving. Usually following a high carb day I notice this the most. There are a few things I do to get me through to my next meal. These may not be the healthiest like I said and they may not work for you, but this is what I do.

Drink, drink, drink. Sometimes you just need to drink more. I find that being full of fluid sometimes takes the edge off. Also, sometimes I drink something bubbly (not champagne 😉) to feel “full”.

Chew gum. Sometimes just the act of chewing something helps take my mind off the fact that I want to eat.

Just take a bite. If I’m reaaalllly craving something so badly that I can’t mentally move past it, I will take one bite. Now, this can be dangerous because it can lead to more bites, or more bites of something else. And all those bites add up and next thing you know, your caloric deficit for the day is over. And some may feel that this only makes cravings worse for them. For me, It works.

Distract yourself. Keep busy and you won’t notice that you are hungry. Sometimes, especially on the weekend when I’m home with the kids, I am so busy I forget to eat my meals! Crazy right?? It is harder for me with a desk job during the week though. I think of food quite a bit. So maybe start a blog to distract yourself 😉.

Pickle juice. I have heard this works. Personally I have never tried it. If any of you do, or have, comment below and let me know! 🙂🙂

That is all I can come up with right now. I hope someone finds it useful!
